IFF is a feature film co-financing event at the Toronto International Film Festival that brings together selected international and Canadian producers developing English language projects to do business in a relaxed atmosphere of brokered meetings and networking opportunities with international sales agents, distributors, funders, agents, and executive producers.
To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum of one full producer credit on a theatrically released feature, and one or two market-oriented co-productions in development that require international financing partners. Producers with executive producer, co-producer or associate producer credits only are not eligible.
"I definitely recommend setting your schedule in advance and trying to get a project to the Financing Forum. Also getting the party list from one or all of the major US agencies is a must."
"Carry lots of cards and triple your budget allowance for taxis, or take some good walking shoes and allow 20 minutes between meetings. People say the main hotels are close together but they are in clusters and there is often a walk between meetings and screenings."
"I found Toronto a wonderfully productive market, far more than Berlin or AFM despite the fact that there is no official marketplace. Industry delegates are accessible and friendly, and for filmmakers with a film screening it is a must-attend experience."
