Feature and TV drama co-productions in Australia, 1994/95–2006/07

Since the introduction of the Producer Offset on 1 July 2007, Australian productions have been categorised as ‘domestic’ and ‘co-productions’. Domestic productions are projects under Australian creative control (where the key elements are predominantly Australian and the project was originated and developed by Australians), and official co-productions are projects made pursuant to an agreement between the Australian government and the government of another country. Under these definitions, projects where creative control is shared (ie with a mix of Australians in key creative positions) are included as ‘domestic’, unless they are official co-productions. Prior to the introduction of the Producer Offset, ‘co-productions’ were defined as projects where control is shared between Australian and foreign partners and which have a mix of Australian and foreign elements in the key creative positions. These could be be categorised as either official or unofficial co-productions, which determined the type of government assistance for which they were eligible. The information below relates to co-productions made prior to 1 July 2007, according to this previous definition, and includes both official and unofficial co-productions.
