  • New writer, Alastair Newton Brown, will work at DeWinter Snow as a staff writer for two years developing his writing skills under internationally acclaimed writer John Collee (Tanna, Master and Commander) and in association with producer Andrew Mason (The Water Diviner, Matrix).   The placement will give Alastair the opportunity to attain writing credits across a diverse slate of TV, feature film and documentary. The placement also brings Alastair into contact with DeWinter Snow’s domestic and international partners, including Hopscotch Features, as he develops his own slate.
  • FremantleMedia Australia's Blue Sky Initiative, supported through Screen Australia's Enterprise Industry, received a huge number of high quality submissions.  One of the new generation of writing talent discovered through this callout was Keir Wilkins. Keir’s unique talent was identified and FremantleMedia have created the opportunity for him to develop and build his screen credits. He will now join FMA’s high energy drama team to create must watch drama for local and international audiences.
  • Highly experienced and respected television producers Helen Bowden (The Slap, Devil’s Playground) and Jason Stephens (Schapelle, Better Man) will mentor up and coming creative producer Courtney Wise (Fragments of Friday). Together the team will develop Courtney’s already strong writing and producing skills, providing a bridge from short and online content to producing high end drama, and facilitate the longer term development and viability of her own slate.
  • Fiona Lanyon, a well-established South Australian Associate Producer and Production Manager, will join Cyan Films in 2016Fiona's deep experience in feature film production in the state has firmly positioned her to take the next step into more active producing. Fiona’s mentor, experienced producer Julie Ryan (Red DogTen Canoes), is a staunch supporter of mentoring as a pathway to a sustained career in the screen industry and offers the opportunity for Fiona to expand her creative skill base and gain creative credits across the Cyan Films slate.
  • Early career story-liner and script consultant, Michael Drake, will work with Sticky Pictures (producers of 2015 AACTA nominated Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane) and gain experience under the supervision of principal and mentor, Stu Connolly, in children’s and comedy television and animation content. Michael will develop skills and gain broadcast credits by developing concepts, running writers' rooms and script editing.
  • Katherine Fry, a credited script editor and manager, will get the opportunity to work with the team behind international hit period drama Miss Fishers Murder MysteriesEvery Cloud Productions, on their Australian Family Drama slate. Mentors Fiona Eagger and Deb Cox will work with Katherine to develop her skills in creative producing, participate in international markets and give her autonomy to manage new projects and talent relationships for the company. Funding for this placement was revoked in July 2019.
  • Youtube sensation Racka Racka (twins, Michael and Danny Philippou) will expand their skills as writer/directors to feature film and long form content with Triptych Pictures under the guidance of Julie Byrne (Touch, Versus), Jennifer Jones (Jillaroo School) and Kristian Moliere (The Babadook). Celebrating two million subscribers and two years of online content the Racka Racka principals will gain experience working on the current Triptych slate, and be given mentoring as they develop their own projects.
  • Nel Minchin will bring her comedy, arts and entertainment concepts with her to build the In Films slate in those areas, as well as learning creative producing skills ‘on the job’ and expanding her skills base to cover factual content – the core business for multi award winning producers Ivan O’Mahoney and Nial Fulton. Additionally, Lucinda Barlow, Google’s Head of Marketing, will lend her skills and experience to develop Nel in the areas of digital marketing and business strategy.
  • Early career comedy writer and performer Nick Musgrove will be given the opportunity to write across Princess Pictures' comedy slate, including new projects with the cast from Open Slather and Princess’s new children’s comedy slate and also be exposed to top class creative talent on Princess’s international projects. Both mentors, Laura Waters and Natalie Bailey, are committed to identifying, developing and sustaining long term relationships with new talent.
  • Robyn Kershaw and Jessica Carerra will partner to develop Jessica as a credited producer focusing on Robyn Kershaw Productions feature slate as well as developing Jessica’s own projects. The two will work together to define and refine Jessica’s skills including offering opportunities of attendance at workshops and for travel to international markets. The mentoring experience with Robyn will set Jessica up with the experience she will need to take her company, Dollhouse Pictures, to the next level.
