Financial assistance: 2010 ACE

Screen Australia, in partnership with the Ateliers du Cinéma Européen (ACE), will offer a special bursary for one selected Australian producer to attend the ACE international training program (ACE IPA).

About ACE IPA Programme

ACE IPA is:

  • A One-Week Workshop in Europe in March 2010 including:

- 3 weekdays in Paris: presentation of the European film industry (financing, legal aspects, tax incentives, international sales, distribution…).

- 5 days in a European capital: individual meetings with script doctors and financing experts, giving you an opportunity to discuss your feature film project in person, a Co-production Forum with industry professionals from the host country and informal meetings with some 40 European ACE Members at the ACE Producers’ Annual Reunion (film projections followed by case studies, marketplace presentations, ACE Interview with a renowned producer, etc.).

  • The follow-up of projects and continuous access to information on the European Film industry
  • Additional networking with key players of the industry
  • Additional training on the European film industry
  • Additional advantages
  • Becoming member of the ACE network

Eligibility criteria

The successful particpant must:

  • have produced at least one feature film that was released in cinemas,
  • have an internationally-targeted feature film project in development (1st draft),
  • be available for the Workshop and ACE Producers’ Annual Reunion (one week in Europe, March 2010).

Application

An application consists of the following:

  • an application form duly filled in, compiling detailed information on the background/track record of the producer, his/her business plan for the next couple years, his/her motivations to join the International ACE Program as well as the submission of a feature project in development (at least first draft) for which the producer is seeking a European co-production or/and distribution partnership (such as international sales).

  • A script is required (either in French or English) along with a synopsis, the notes of intention by the producer and the author (writer or/and director) with CVs (and DVDs of prior films), a budget, a financing plan, a financing/production/marketing/sales/distribution strategy, a development & production schedule and any additional element which could help the selection committee to better understand the positioning and the assets of the project.

Key dates

  1. Call for applications : October 2009.
  2. Application deadline: 30 November 2009.
  3. Assessment of applications: December 2009
  4. Final selection on dossiers: the week of January 11 (with possible conference calls with candidates if needed for final decisions).
  5. Selection announcement on January 18-20 to all applicants.

Participation fees

Screen Australia will offer €5,800 to a selected Australian producer to cover their tuition fees, travel from Paris to Zurich and full board accommodation in Europe. ACE is also offering a long-distance flight ticket to each selected participant.
