Definitions

Archival activities Funding for the archiving and preservation of Australian films and programs. Mainly comprises activities of the National Film and Sound Archive (formerly ScreenSound Australia).
Distribution Funding for the distribution of films and programs, prints and advertising (P&A) funding.
Government documentary production Co-ordination and funding of documentaries commissioned by government.
Interactive media Comprises interactive and multimedia products and services that: (i) make integrated use of the following media in the one product: text, still images (photographs or graphics), moving images (live action or animation) and audio;(ii) use computer commands to integrate these elements which allow the user to control the sequence of events or outcome; and(iii) use an online or offline digital delivery system.
Location promotion Expenditure on publicity and promotion of the benefits of shooting in a particular location, including incentive funds allocated to projects which shoot in a particular location.
Marketing support Funding of marketing and promotional activity for Australian films and programs in Australia and overseas.
Other Expenditure not able to be included in any other categories. Includes administration costs such as salaries and operating costs for agencies reporting administration in a separate category rather than as part of program costs.
Production attraction Production-related rebates or grants provided against payroll tax, expenditure on cast and crew salaries and/or other production costs. Generally provided on a per-project basis as an incentive to productions to shoot in a particular location.
Production Funding/investment in the production of Australian films and programs. In previous reports, funding for shorts and all AFC production funding had been reported under professional development. This is now reported under production.
Project development Support for project-based film and television development and includes script development funding for established producers/writers/directors.
Research Funding for research on the film and television industries such as statistical collections.
Revenue All revenue raised through activities of the agency.
Screen culture Support for festivals, publications, service organisations and awards.
Training & professional development Training includes expenditure on training courses and manuals for film and television industry professionals, and the activities of Australian Film Television and Radio School. Professional development includes funding support for emerging producers/writers/directors, travel to seminars and conferences, etc. In previous reports, funding for shorts and all AFC production funding had been reported under professional development. This is now reported under production.
