Government sources (excluding public broadcasters)
provide the highest proportion of funding to the annual documentary slates
in Australia and Canada (46 per cent and 34 per cent of
the slate respectively), and the second highest in France (20 per cent),
where producers provide around the same proportion.
The largest contribution to the French slate
comes from broadcasters (including public broadcasters) – 42 per cent,
compared to 30 per cent in Canada and 27 per cent
in Australia. Australia has the highest level of foreign finance
– 13 per cent, compared to 11 per cent in Canada
and 8 per cent in France.
