Distributors’ market share of the Australian box office

2009

Films released through Roadshow/Warner Bros earnt the largest share of the Australian box office in 2009 - 21 per cent, down slightly from 23 per cent the previous year - with gross takings of $223.2 million.

Roadshow is the largest locally owned distributor. It maintains a long-standing arrangement to distribute films made by Warner Bros, many of them produced as part of a joint venture between Warner Bros and Village Roadshow Ltd. Of their combined 2009 share, Roadshow contributed 13 per cent with 8 per cent from Warner Bros.

Fox achieved the second largest distributor's share in 2009 with Paramount dropping to third place with Sony.
