Marketing Support

Screen Australia helps Australian screen practitioners market their projects through direct funding assistance as well as information, advice, and a range of specialised services. The programs delivered by the three former film agencies will continue until 31 December 2008.

Funding

Screen Australia provides:

Travel Grants - to help screen practitioners attend major international festivals, digital media events, pitching competitions and international markets. Five types are available, depending on the nature of the project, its stage of development and the practitioner’s level of market experience.

Festival, Alternate Distribution, and Theatrical P&A Marketing Support - for marketing and/or screening materials for projects accepted into key international festivals; for projects that have attracted a distributor and require marketing and/or screening materials; and for completed drama and documentary projects looking to enhance proposed theatrical release. Applications for these funds are accepted at any time.

Feature Film Marketing Fund

For features financed by Screen Australia or the former FFC:
Screen Austraia may provide up to $1.5 million from its annual budget to support the marketing and distribution of its annual feature film slate. Support may be provided for specific marketing and distribution costs, at Screen Australia’s discretion.

National Marketing Initiatives

Screen Australia supports and hosts a number of marketing-related workshops, seminars and networking opportunities in Australia throughout the year including:

  • MeetMarket in February, in conjunction with the Australian International Documentary Conference.
  • Australia on Show at the annual Movie Convention
Documentary Distribution

Screen Australia promotes and sells documentaries commissioned and acquired under the National Interest and Making History programs both nationally and internationally. We have extensive distribution networks and a range of channels into education, library and government markets. Documentaries that sit beside NIP and Making History productions may attract a distribution advance.

Disbursement Service for Producers

Screen Australia’s optional Disbursement Service is offered to producers of projects financed by Screen Australia and the former Film Finance Corporation. Revenues are collected from the exploitation of marketing rights and disbursed to all investors and other stakeholders in accordance with the pre-set recoupment schedule.
