Industry Support

Screen Australia's goal is to contribute to the development of a vibrant, successful and dynamic screen industry, which is responsive to audiences and provides an interpretation of Australian culture both here and overseas.

Screen Australia aims to support Australian screen professionals in creating outstanding Australian content across a range of platforms. It also aims to support innovation throughout the industry. Guidelines for its funding programs are available through the links at right.

Screen Australia does not negatively discriminate on the basis of racial background, sexual preference, culture, language, gender, or physical or intellectual disability.

Indigenous content or participation: Specific requirements apply to projects that involve Indigenous Australians. All filmmakers shooting in Australia are encouraged to read Screen Australia's new handbook Pathways & Protocols: a filmmaker's guide to working with Indigenous people, culture and concepts

Development

Four main arms of development support are available:

Screen Australia's Industry and Cultural Development funding program fosters and supports activities and events nationally that contribute to the development and appreciation of Australian screen culture. The program is being reviewed in the first quarter of 2009 as a part of the Marketing Support and Promotion Division. Until this review is completed, all ICD funding applications will be by invitation only. Read full details on the ICD Funding page.

Marketing support

Screen Australia helps Australian screen practitioners market their projects through direct funding assistance as well as information, advice, and a range of specialised services.

Screen Australia’s Indigenous Branch facilitates the participation of Indigenous Australians in the industry and provides support to develop a vibrant Indigenous production sector through a range of funding options. More...

Indigenous filmmakers may apply to any Screen Australia program in addition to the funding programs of the Indigenous Branch.
