ADDITIONAL 2009/10 INVESTMENT ROUND FOR FEATURES AND TV DRAMA

Applications for feature film and TV drama production finance will now be considered at the 27 April Board meeting

The Screen Australia Board has decided to hold an additional production investment funding round at the 27 April Board meeting.

The third TV drama production investment round for the financial year can now be held at the Board meeting.

Screen Australia will also accept applications for feature film production finance, including post-production finance, at that Board meeting.

It should be noted that the amount of available funds is modest, and that the funding round is likely to be highly competitive.

All applications will need to conform to the relevant production investment guidelines including the assessment process for feature films.

All materials for funding applications must be submitted by the deadlines below:

Feature films (including complete finance plans): 15 March 2010
Television drama: 22 March 2010

Producers are advised to contact the Production Investment Department in advance of these dates to discuss likely applications..

Applications for children's television drama will next be considered at the 8 July Board meeting (application deadline 28 May 2010).

BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL SUCCESSES

Australian short film Franswa Sharl has been awarded the prestigious Crystal Bear Award for Best Short Film in Generation KPlus at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival. Written and directed by Hannah Hilliard and produced by Linda Micsko, Franswa Sharl is about a 12-year-old boy who reinvents himself as a French girl while on a family holiday in Fiji so he can enter a competition - much to his father's dismay. A fictionalised account of a bizarre stunt pulled off by co-writer Greg Logan, Franswa Sharl is framed in the exotic and colourful landscape of a Fijian resort in 1980.

In addition, Berlin-based Australian filmmaker Bryn Chainey has won the Berlin Today Award in the Talent Short Film Competition of the Berlinale Talent Campus for his film Jonah and the Vicarious Nature of Homesickness. The live-action and stop-motion short was produced in cooperation with the Berlin production company, Anna Wendt Filmproduktion.
