The latest rounds from Screen Australia’s Documentary Production Broadcast and Producer programs will fund 16 ambitious and significant documentaries. The documentaries will receive nearly $4.4 million investment generating a total production expenditure of close to $16.7 million.

Six new Hot Shots greenlit to make short film projects

Six filmmaking teams will share in $450,000 of Screen Australia funding to enhance and extend their creative storytelling and production skills through the latest Hot Shots: Short Fiction Funding round.

Screen Australia to sell Lindfield Studios site

Recently rezoned for residential use, the property is expected to attract significant market interest. Colliers International has been appointed as the sales agent.

Simon Baker back in Australia to make Tim Winton’s Breath

Screen Australia will invest $13.4 million in 12 new feature film and television projects which will instigate production to the value of $64.3 million. This round will see Simon Baker (The Mentalist, Margin Call) return to Australia to make his directorial feature film debut. Baker will reimagine and star in the screen adaptation of Tim Winton’s bestselling novel, Breath.

‘Skip Ahead’ again with Screen Australia and YouTube

Following the success of the first Skip Ahead program, which reached over 5.5 million views, Screen Australia and YouTube will team up once again to run a second round of the initiative. Google Australia and Screen Australia will each give $200,000 directly to Australian online talent to create original narrative web series to build their global audiences to new heights.

Screen Australia’s new Documentary Producer program will fund the intimate story of Brett Whiteley

The first round of Screen Australia’s Documentary Producer program will give eight documentaries $1.8 million in funding support. These projects will generate production expenditure close to $9.3 million and showcase some unique, true Australian stories.
