Screen Australia today announced that $560,000 will be allocated to support 17 single-draft screen projects selected from applications received through its Development program in the last three months. In addition, four emerging filmmakers will receive support through the Talent Escalator program.

Over the past six months Screen Australia has listened to a wide range of viewpoints from across the sector. The new draft reflects many of the ideas that came through written submissions and discussion with industry, including national broadcasters and guilds.

Two South Australian producers have been selected to participate in the 2014 Producers Lab Toronto during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), 3–6 September. Kristian Moliere and Anna Vincent will join a select group of 22 producers from Europe, Canada and New Zealand at the fifth edition of the Producers Lab. They will gain information on funding and co-production from both sides of the Atlantic as well as the Pacific.

The Australian Directors Guild (ADG) and Screen Australia are pleased to announce that emerging director Ariel Martin has been selected as the first placement for 2014 under the Director’s Attachment Scheme. Funded by Screen Australia and managed by the ADG, the scheme supports emerging feature film directors to develop their craft. Ariel started his attachment this week to Neil Armfield (Candy) on his upcoming feature film, Holding the Man, a Goalpost Pictures production which began production in Melbourne.
