Iconic Australian classic The Castle returns to the BIG screen this Australia Day

Image

This Australia Day long weekend, Screen Australia is pleased to support the return to the big screen of the classic Australian comedy The Castle (M), exclusively at Event Cinemas and selected Reading Cinemas.

Screen Australia’s Chief Executive Graeme Mason said, “The Castle is an iconic Australian film which has had a long and enduring impact on our culture and we’re pleased to be able to support the rerelease of the film this Australia Day. Younger generations will now have the opportunity to ‘feel the serenity’ amplified through the buzz of the big screen.”

In the film, a Melbourne family is very happy living where they do, near the Melbourne airport (it's practically their back yard). However, they are forced to leave their beloved home by the government and airport authorities. The Castle is the story of how they fight to remain in their house, taking their case as far as the High Court.

From Working Dog, and written by Santo Cilauro, Tom Gleisner, Jane Kennedy and Rob Sitch (who also had directing duties), The Castle stars Michael Caton, Anne Tenney, Stephen Curry, Eric Bana and Charles 'Bud' Tingwell. The Castle will be screening on Sunday 26 January and Monday 27 January. Tickets are just $10 for Event Cinemas Cine Buzz Members and $12 for everyone else.
