Enterprise call-out!

Screen Australia is now calling for bold, forward-thinking concepts that grow businesses, audiences and the screen sector with the release of the Enterprise Industry guidelines today.

The new three-year, $10 million suite of Enterprise programs was launched at the Melbourne International Film Festival by CEO Graeme Mason.

“To a very great extent, Enterprise Industry aims to facilitate screen businesses to invest in development, talent and innovation for the benefit of the sector as a whole,” he said.

“Enterprise People envisages small to medium production companies, with great mentor credentials, putting writers, writer/directors and creative producers on the payroll to work across a slate for a period of up to two years.

“Imagine what may be achieved by employing a writer who has the luxury to write for a sustained period of time,” Mr Mason said.

Enterprise People will provide up to $1 million per year for 10–15 one or two year placements.

“Enterprise Stories imagines outsourcing larger scale development opportunities such as script workshops.  It may well be that a larger business has the international contacts and networks to develop a proposal to grow our writer, writer/director and creative producer talent pool. 

“It is critical that we invest in this sort of industry research and development to ensure that a vibrant culture of Australian storytelling continues into the future,” he said.

Enterprise Stories will offer a total of $1–2 million each year to deliver diverse initiatives costing between $50,000 and $400,000.

“Enterprise Growth might be about new distribution models, alternative finance sources or developing economies of scale through partnerships and strategic alliances.  What we are looking for, is the industry to tell us how they can make a difference and how our funding can help mitigate the risk of being bold, innovative and forward thinking,” Mr Mason concluded.

A total of between $1–2 million will also be available for Enterprise Growth, providing companies with $100,000–500,000 each over two years.
