Opportunities for Indigenous Filmmakers: Songlines on Screen 2

Image

Indigenous production companies and media organisations are invited to apply to be part of the next ‘Songlines on Screen’ project. The first ‘Songlines on Screen’ project rolled out earlier this year, resulting in ten initial films of which six had their premiere at the Sydney Film Festival.

Based on the success of this first project, Screen Australia’s Indigenous Department together with NITV are pleased to announce the second Songlines on Screen initiative, and are looking for new talent.

The successful applicants will film and record a Songline or Songline segment from their region. The filming must incorporate the Song, Dance and Body Art of the ‘open story’ of the Songline.

The filming will result in a broadcast quality documentary, which will then be screened on NITV.

The applications must have written or video permission from the custodians of the Songline or Songline segment and must be willing to participate in the project.

Up to 10 applicants will receive funding to develop their documentary idea.

Successful applicants will be invited to a Residential Workshop in Darwin, 14-18 March (all expenses covered).
