Cannes VIPs to visit Australia

Filmmakers with new theatrical feature films yet to screen internationally take note: Screen Australia will be hosting two VIPs from Cannes.

Screen Australia is pleased to announce it will host a visit in late November by Christian Jeune, Director of the Film Department and Deputy General Delegate, Festival de Cannes and then in January by Charles Tesson, the Artistic Director of Semaine de la Critique Cannes (Cannes Critics Week). They will both be here to view new feature films for preselection for the 2017 festival.

Feature films for consideration in Competition, Out of Competition and Un Certain Regard for Cannes Film Festival are only eligible if they have been seen at a home festival, but not in an international section and not on the internet or released on DVD. Critics Week strictly requires full-length theatrical features that are the director’s first or second feature film, and which have only screened in festivals in their home territory, but not on television or the internet.

Filmmakers with eligible feature films should email Dale Fairbairn by the following deadlines:

  • Immediately for Cannes Official
  • 16 December 2016 for Critics Week

Short filmmakers can also contact Dale to have their titles included in lists of submitting shorts for both selectors.
