'Strictly Jewish' opens a unique window into the secret world of Australia's most ultra-Orthodox Jewish sect – the 200 families, or 2000-plus Jews – of the Adass Israel community. Living cheek by jowl with Melbourne's trendy latte society, Adass have transplanted the European Jewish villages of their ancestors, who were almost entirely wiped out in the Nazi Holocaust, Down Under. Today, they have created a cradle-to-grave society, and are almost entirely self-sufficient – they even have their own ambulance service. Steeped in piety and prayer, they shun the trappings of modernity – most do not own televisions – and have never before opened their closely guarded community to TV cameras…
