Once Upon a Time in Cabramatta
Spanning 35 years, ONCE UPON A TIME IN CABRAMATTA tells the epic story of the Vietnamese community in Sydney. Beginning with the arrival of the Vietnamese refugees in the 1970s following the end of the Vietnam War, the story progresses through the dark years of the 80s and 90s when murder, kidnapping, drugs and drive-by shootings dominated daily life and Cabramatta was crowned ‘The Heroin capital of Australia’; then, to the beginning of this century when the Vietnamese community said, ‘enough is enough’ – a defining moment when the people of Cabramatta found their voice, their freedom and their place in Australia. And finally to today when Cabramatta’s Vietnamese community stands as an example of migrant success.
