The Screen Guide

After decades of overfishing, the global tuna industry has now invaded one of its final frontiers – the waters of Papua New Guinea. In the 1950s, this industry fished 400,000 tonnes of tuna a year from the world’s oceans. Now, just six decades later, the number has soared close to 4 million tonnes. CANNING PARADISE carries a warning of the terrible human toll when the full impact of globalisation is brought to bear on tiny, isolated indigenous tribes struggling to defend their simple way of life in a world bent on furthering corporate capitalism at all costs.
