The Screen Guide

This docu-drama brings to life the dramatic, turbulent career and adventures of Ikey Solomon, the first Fagin…and one of Australia's most infamous convicts. Our story, which moves from London's dens of vice to Australia and Tasmania's prison shores, is set against the background of crime, punishment and the deportation system in 19th century England. In addition it explores how Ikey's life and career interwove with that of Dickens, and inspired his both comic and grim portrait of Fagin.
