The Screen Guide

Happiness comes from the achievement of goals right? That’s what accountant Chelsea was always told. So what if you’ve achieved much of what you were meant to by the age of 33, but find yourself taking fistfuls of anti-depressants just to get through the day? And what would happen if, like Lola, you’d always partied the hardest, lived every irresponsible moment no matter what the cost, but then reached 48 and realised the cupboards were bare and your children were gone? Realised that when the music stopped there were no chairs left and the only job you could get was as a checkout operator in a supermarket chain? What would happen? Nothing. Because the cards you’re dealt at the start are the cards you’ll die with in the end, and you only get one real shot at happiness. But what if a second chance did come along – except it was wrapped in a disaster and nearly impossible to recognise? That’s what happens to Chelsea and Lola as they wait for a bus on a deserted rainy street. A street where every morning at 5.45am they have waited silently for the bus to take them to their respective workplaces. Except on this particular rainy morning as they stand in the bus shelter hidden from view, a car slowly rolls down the street coming to a stop against the curb - the driver slumped over the wheel.
