The agency uses and discloses personal information (including some sensitive information) for the following purposes (listed along with the applicable collection method):

  • to assess applications for funding (funding applications);
  • to evaluate funding outcomes and expenditure (acquittal reports);
  • to obtain data on a particular topic relevant to Screen Australia’s activities (surveys);

Screen Australia is required to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and all personal information will be handled in accordance with Screen Australia’s Privacy Policy. This policy includes information about what constitutes personal and/or sensitive information as well as how you may access, seek correction of or make a complaint regarding any personal information Screen Australia holds about you.

Certain sections of our forms may request you to provide personal information (including sensitive information such as information about a person’s ethnic origin, health or sexual orientation) about yourself and other individuals. If you are providing this information on behalf of another individual, you must ensure you have their consent to provide their personal information (including any sensitive information) to Screen Australia for the Purposes associated with the applicable collection method.

If this information is not provided, we may be unable to assess your application, evaluate and report on your funding outcomes and expenditure, or update The Screen Guide, as applicable, and we will not be able to use the information to inform the agency’s research.

Personal information provided in forms may be disclosed to Screen Australia’s employees, contractors or board members or to other Australian government or private entities in connection with the Purposes.

Screen Australia does not generally disclose personal information it collects to recipients overseas. However, there may be circumstances which require the agency to do so, for example, in order to assess an application with an international component or where an Australian service provider subcontracts certain services overseas. In such circumstances, Screen Australia will work to ensure there are substantially similar protections in place in the recipient country as under Australian privacy law along with appropriate enforcement mechanisms.
