It was the first Australian short to have a theatrical release since 2005 and was screened before the Australian feature film, Wish You Were Here. No short films were released in cinemas in 2014. An average of five Australian shorts were released each year in Australian cinemas between 1988 and 2014. In 1990 and 1993 the number released in cinemas was higher than other years due to the release of anthologies. In 1990, 13 titles were released as part of Oz Animation.
