Screens and theatres by state

The state share of cinema screens is similar to the state share of population, with 32 per cent of screens in NSW/ACT, 26 per cent in Victoria and 22 per cent in Queensland. Average state box office share shows a similar pattern, with NSW/ACT accounting for 32 per cent, Victoria for 27 per cent and Queensland 18 per cent (see Box office: By state). The shares of screens and of theatres have both remained relatively static over the past 19 years.
