Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is North America’s largest documentary festival, conference and market and it is widely considered to be one of the world’s leading documentary events. As well as offering more than 200 cutting-edge documentaries for screening in the Festival, its industry programs provide market, professional development and networking opportunities for the many attending documentary professionals.

 

In 2023, the festival celebrated its 30th anniversary, and submissions numbering 2,848. It screened 214 films from 72 countries, plus streamed 100 into Canadian homes.

 

Hot Docs accepts Canadian and international documentaries of all lengths and subject matter.

 

Film Length

  • Feature Length: 65 minutes or longer
  • Mid-Length: 40-65 minutes
  • Short: under 40 minutes
