Telluride Film Festival

Genre: All genre

This compact four-day festival, set in a former mining town, is very much a film-focused event where audiences talk about filmmaking as an ‘art’ not a business and is held on the annual Labor Day weekend. Although concentrating mainly on features, Telluride also presents three programs of short films (the Great Expectations program focuses specifically on short feature-length films). A unique trait of this festival is that the film line-up is never revealed until the first day of screenings.

Note: This is a non-competitive festival.

Tips for Attendees

‘Someone said to us that there are no prizes at Telluride but if your film gets a TBA slot (extra screening programmed out of strong response) then that is the prize. Our films got three!’

‘At each screening we delivered an introductory or concluding talk, which garnered very strong and affirmative responses from our audience and festival hosts.’

‘Telluride was an excellent event for us to pick up on our significant US profiling as a filmmaking team. It is such a small and contained festival that social events were easily reached between screening commitments and we were able to meet many key industry people at these events.’
