TIFF: The Market Producer Delegation 2026

Screen Australia, in partnership with Ontario Creates, are convening a delegation of Australian producers to travel to Toronto to encourage early-stage creative connections, foster meaningful relationships and B2B partnerships for Official Co-productions made under the Australia/Canada Co-production treaty.

The focus of this call out is for narrative and documentary features. Producers with successful track records in television or direct to audience releases are eligible to apply, provided their upcoming slate has some feature films intended for co-production with Canada.

This funding aims to support Australian producers—who have proven experience with Official Co productions or have completed projects of comparable scale, and who can demonstrate strong success and clear traction in Canada from recent credits —to pursue new co development and co production opportunities for projects made under the Australia/Canada Co-production treaty.

Up to 10 production companies/ producers will receive funding of up to $10,000 each towards travel, accommodation, living, insurance, accreditation in Toronto to attend the Screen Australia/ Ontario Creates Co-Pro Matchmaking Day (10 September) and to be able to stay on for further business at TIFF: The Market (10-20 September 2026).

 

There is a funding cap of $10,000 per application, whether the applicant is an individual (including on behalf of a team) or a company.

Applicants and projects must meet Screen Australia’s Terms of Trade, any general eligibility or other requirements listed on the agency’s website (see Information for Applicants and Information for Recipients), as well as the specific eligibility criteria set out in these guidelines.

 

This program is open to companies and individuals (either alone or as part of a team as co-applicants).

 

To be eligible, an applicant company must:

 

  • be an incorporated company carrying on business in Australia, with its central management and control in Australia;
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN); and
  • be registered for the purposes of GST if required by law.

 

To be eligible, an individual applicant (or each individual co-applicant) must:

 

  • be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident (holding a permanent visa); and
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • be eligible to apply for a Canadian visa.

Applications close 5pm AEST, Thursday 21 May 2026 and can be made via the Screen Australia application portal with the following materials.

 

Through the application form, you must:

  • provide all the information requested and answer the application questions;
  • address all eligibility criteria and assessment criteria; and
  • include all required supporting materials (CV and 8-page proposal)

Complete and eligible applications will be reviewed and assessed by Screen Australia staff members and/or appointed industry specialists.

 

Funding decisions will be made against the following equally-weighted criteria:

 

  • Proposal: The strength of the strategy outlined in the proposal.
    • Co-production proposal and slate: The stage of development, suitability and strength of the nominated Australian/ Launch Thursday 23 April 2026
  • Canadian Official Co-production(s) being put forward for this event, as well as the projects on the further slate (and the creative talent attached to them).
  • Experience: The experience and knowledge of the applicant relevant to the activity, especially with regard to experience with Official Co-productions or projects of a comparative scale, as well the amount of traction received internationally from the applicant’s completed body of work, especially with regard to Canada.
