The level of international production activity in Australia is influenced by a range of factors including the Australian dollar, and government rebates and incentives. The overall trend for international spend in Australia, on both shoot and PDV-only titles, has been upwards, as has the proportion of total Australian expenditure.

In 2023/24, spend on international theatrical features shooting in Australia was $477 million, down 22% on 2022/23. Foreign PDV-only spend was $168 million, up by 14% on the previous year.
