The level of foreign production activity in Australia is influenced by a range of factors including the Australian dollar, and government rebates and incentives. The overall trend for foreign spend in Australia, on both shoot and PDV-only titles, has been upwards, as has the proportion of total Australian expenditure.

In 2023/24, spend on foreign TV and VOD shooting in Australia was $23 million, down 88% on 2022/23. Foreign PDV-only spend was $99 million, down by 67% on the previous year.
