Enterprise funding review
Final guidelines Q & A

Can companies receive funding through multiple streams?

Enterprise Stories and Enterprise Growth are mutually exclusive. But you are able to receive funding through Enterprise People concurrently with either Enterprise Stories OR Enterprise Growth.

It’s possible to apply to both Enterprise Stories and Enterprise Growth, but funding cannot be approved for both. We do recommend, however, that you make a strong application for the program that best suits your business needs rather than applying to both programs ‘just in case’.

What are the caps for each stream and what funding is available for the program?

Total funding available for Enterprise Industry is around $10 million over three years.

Companies can apply for:

  • around $50,000–70,000 per year through Enterprise People (around $1 million to be allocated in 2014/15)
  • between $50,000 and $400,000 through Enterprise Stories (around $1–2 million expected to be allocated in the 2014 round);
  • between $100,000 and $500,000 in total over two years through Enterprise Growth (around $1–2 million expected to be allocated in the 2014 round)

What reporting requirements will there be?

Progress reporting against agreed KPIs six-monthly. You may also be asked to provide material for case studies, program evaluation and/or participate in seminars or workshops to share their knowledge and experience.

In addition, placements under the People program will be asked to complete an ‘exit’ survey at the end of their time with the host company.

Can a director apply for these streams or are they only for producers?

Directors are welcome to apply as long as they, and their company, meet the eligibility criteria.

In the case of the People program, writer/directors are eligible to be considered as a placement with a company.

What happens to companies that were eligible under the old Enterprise program?

If companies were eligible to apply to Screen Australia’s Feature Enterprise, Enterprise Asia and the main Enterprise program, it’s likely they would be eligible to apply to the new programs with an appropriate proposal.

What will the loan component be?

As all funding will be no more than $500,000, it will be provided as a grant. There will be no loan component.

Will you encourage regional applicants?

Screen Australia will distribute information to its contact database, through trade and industry publications and to the broader industry guilds and networks.

Will there be future rounds of Enterprise funding available?

After this year’s inaugural rounds, we expect to open Enterprise People for applications again in 2015/16, and both Stories and Growth in 2015/16 and 2016/17. It is anticipated that the programs will be reviewed at the end of this period.

Are not-for-profit and non-production entities eligible to apply?

Yes, as long as they have a suitable project and meet the eligibility requirements.
