The program will be run in partnership with AFTRS, Create NSW, Film Victoria, Screen Canberra, Screen Tasmania, Screen Territory, Screen Queensland, the South Australian Film Corporation, Screenwest, and Screen Producers Australia.

The aim of the program is to grow the number of Indigenous screen producers working in the industry, and to create pathways to support Australian Indigenous storytelling both nationally and globally.

Screen Australia are looking for self-motivated, organised, energetic collaborators with an understanding of storytelling who have at least one broadcast or online producer credit to take part. Alternatively, emerging producers or creatives who have production/curatorial experience in sectors other than screen and are committed to furthering their careers in the film and television industry as a screen producer, are also encouraged to apply.

The Indigenous Producer Program will involve an intensive development plan that covers all aspects of producing and will be tailored to suit the needs and skills of successful applicants. This is not a full time program, but requires commitment and availability to attend four workshops over 12 months and ongoing development including funded placements with experienced production companies.

Previous alumni of this program include – Jodie Bell (Doug The Human, Saving Seagrass), Aaron Fa’aoso (Blue Water Empire, Straight Out of the Straits), Tanith Glynn-Maloney (Robbie Hood, She Who Must Be Loved), Ryan Griffin (Cleverman), John Harvey (Spear, The Warriors), Majhid Heath (A Chance Affair, Dark Place) and Shakara Walley (Aussie Rangers).

Applications close Friday, 28 June 2019 and can be made through the application portal.
