A double shot of shorts mixed with a triple shot of Australian features selected for Tribeca Film Festival

An Australian feature, two feature documentaries and two short films have been selected for the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

The Burning Season (d: Cathy Henkel) will screen in the World Documentary Feature Competition and Love The Beast (d: Eric Bana) will have its International Premiere at the festival when it screens as part of the Encounters program.

Accidents Happen - Sales agent Bankside considers the Tribeca screening the perfect launch pad for Andrew Lancaster’s debut feature and are “sure that buyers across the world will respond positively to this darkly comic and intensely moving story which features a first-class performance from Geena Davis.”

The Burning Season screens at Tribeca following its outing at the2008 Brisbane International Film Festival and its win of the 2008 Inside Film Award for Best Documentary. The film follows a young carbon trading entrepreneur in search of a solution to the problems caused by the Indonesian burning season.

Love The Beast – a quintessentially Australian tale about one man’s ongoing relationship with his first car – marks the directorial debut of internationally acclaimed Australian actor Eric Bana and has just been released domestically to rave reviews.
