Master the Craft of Screenwriting with legendary Syd Field

Internationally acclaimed author, lecturer and screenwriter Syd Field is coming to Australia in November to conduct his renowned seminar Mastering the Craft of Screenwriting on the art and craft of visual storytelling.

In this unique series of lectures, Mr Field will focus on updating the classic storytelling conventions with contemporary tools and techniques for the modern screenplay.

Acclaimed as the “guru of all screenwriters” by CNN, and “the most sought-after screenwriting teacher in the world” by The Hollywood Reporter, Syd Field is the internationally celebrated author of eight books on screenwriting. His classic Screenplay, considered ‘the bible’ of the film industry, and The Screenwriter’s Workbook are now in their 40th printing, published in 26 languages. Mr Field has conducted screenwriting workshops all over the world and has conducted The Art of Storytelling seminars for Disney Studios and 20th Century Fox. He has been a screenplay consultant for 20th Century Fox, Touchstone Pictures, TriStar Pictures and Universal Studios and has worked intimately with many prominent filmmakers including Judd Apatow, Alfonso Cuarón, Gary Marshall, Roland Joffé, James L Brooks and Michael Haneke.

Mastering the Craft of Screenwriting will be presented over four nights (8–11 November). Each night Mr Field will explore a specific subject relating to the craft of screenwriting accompanied by examples from Academy Award®–winning movies. The seminar will cover: Evening one: The Evolution/Revolution of the Contemporary Screenplay/Teleplay. Evening two: Setting Up Character and Story. Evening three: Writing Effective Dialogue. Evening four: Preparing and Writing Great Scenes.

Places for single or multiple evenings may be purchased at a fraction of the usual rate for Syd Field’s lectures.
