Nineteen feature projects to receive development support

Screen Australia today announced over $450,000 in funding to support the development of 19 feature film projects. Six new projects have been added to Screen Australia’s development slate, while 13 teams will receive continued support to further develop their projects.

The new projects to receive development support include the drama script Clive, about a privileged man in his prime whose life is transformed after a serious accident, from writer/director Natasha Pincus, producer Bridget Ikin and executive producer John Maynard. Em is a comedic take on Jane Austen’s timeless classic, Emma, set in 1950s rural Australia in development from writer/producer Matthew Dabner with director Kate Riedl and producers Karen Radzyner and Anna Vincent.

Lynne Vincent McCarthy will be supported to develop her psychological thriller script Lonely Girl with producer Samantha Jennings. The project was also supported through Screen Australia’s Springboard Program. Writers Sam Meikle and Serhat Caradee will be supported to develop their crime drama script My Country with producer Matthew Dabner. Serhat Caradee is also attached as a director on the project.

Ruben Guthrie is a new comedy drama script supported for development from writer/director Brendan Cowell with producer Yael Bergman and executive producers Laura Waters and Andrea Denholm. The Truth About Jack is a romantic drama story being supported for development by writer Glen Dolman and producer Adam Dolman with executive producer Tristram Miall and Luke Eve attached as director.
