How To Talk Australians, view now

Screen Australia, in partnership with the state screen agencies, has announced the trial of Outreach – a free program which aims to assist creatives outside Sydney and Melbourne to connect with Screen Australia staff.

Outreach includes private (closed) video conferences and public live streams of information sessions. The trial will take place between October and December 2017, with the aim to have a permanent Outreach offering from 2018 built upon learnings and feedback from the trial.

Sally Caplan, Head of Production at Screen Australia noted, “Our aim with Outreach is to make it easier to engage with Screen Australia, to create conversations and provide information about programs to practitioners all around Australia.”

Screen Australia staff taking part in Outreach cover all major departments, including Development, Production Investment, Online, Documentary, Indigenous, Business & Audience, Producer Offset and Co-productions, plus Program Operations who manage incoming applications.

Starting from 4 October, private video conferences will be available most Wednesdays in half hour sessions between 1pm and 3pm (AEDT). Creatives must register their interest in taking part in Outreach private video conferences as per the instructions below.

The public live streams will focus on a particular topic or initiative and registration is not required. The first live stream will take place on Wednesday 4 October at 5pm (AEDT) and will be centred on assistance applying for the Screen Australia Guardian Documentary Initiative. Questions should be submitted in advance at [email protected] and the live stream will take place on our YouTube channel.

Creatives should register for Screen Australia’s newsletter to be notified of future public live streams.

Special thanks to the Outreach pilot state agencies Create NSW, Film Victoria, Screen Canberra, Screen Queensland, Screen Tasmania, Screenwest and the South Australian Film Corporation.
