Berlin Festival Selector in Australia

Maryanne Redpath, from the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) will be here in October to view new Australian feature films eligible for selection for the 2017 festival.

Berlinale is one of the world’s top tier film festivals, with 310,000 tickets bought by visitors to this year’s festival. The European Film Market coincides with the festival, and along with the Berlin Co-Pro Market and Talents, Berlin is a priority annual industry business event.

In 2016, Australian TV series Cleverman had its world premiere in a special program of international TV series; Girl Asleep had its international premiere in Generation 14plus; and short films The Boyfriend Game and Kill Your Dinner screened in Generation Kplus.

The five main sections Australian filmmakers can enter their films in are: Competition, Panorama, Forum, Shorts and Generation. The Berlin International Film Festival will take place 9 - 19 February 2017.

Maryanne will view eligible new Australian feature films on this visit.

If your feature film meets the festival entry requirements please email Dale Fairbairn – Manager, Markets and Festivals. Festival entry requirements can be found on the Berlinale website

Feature film submission deadline to Screen Australia is 5pm, Monday 3 October.

Short films are to be submitted directly to the festival and notification of your submission to be sent to Dale Fairbairn on behalf of Maryanne Redpath.
