Travel grants available for producers travelling to Sichuan TV Festival

Screen Australia is offering travel grants for producers to attend the International TV Program Market at the Sichuan TV Festival, 6-8 November 2009.

Now in its 10th year, the 2009 Sichuan TV Festival is hosting ‘Australia Day’, a special focus on Australia to promote business, communication and cooperation in the film and TV industry between China and Australia. Its aim is to establish an advanced platform for co-productions, program marketing and project investment and will be achieved by project presentations, one-on-one meetings and specially prepared panel presentations.

The International TV Program Market is one of the biggest in China for TV, film, entertainment, documentary and information programs, and the main channel for the export and import of TV and film programs in Asia. Held every two years, in 2007 it attracted 1,222 Chinese delegates and a total of 2,750 participants from around the world, plus TV networks and broadcasters from 19 countries and regions.

Producers are encouraged to apply who are working in television, animation or documentary, or digital and mobile content creators who are seeking to expand upon existing relationships in China, seeking potential co-production, investment and sales opportunities, or who are wanting to learn more about the Chinese market.

Applicants will need to provide a strong market strategy outlining their argument for attendance, desired outcomes and a demonstrated understanding of the market. Preference will be given to applicants who have at least one project in development suitable for the Chinese market.

Applicants can apply for up to $2,000 towards the cost of their travel, with Australian delegates receiving complimentary registration and discounted accommodation.

For more informatio, go to the Sichuan TV Festival website.

The deadline for applications is Friday 28 August 2009.
