Randy makes history

Randy, the outspoken purple puppet from comedic duo Sammy J and Randy, has made history as the first puppet ever to be nominated for an AACTA award.

Randy is nominated for Best Performance in a TV Comedy for his role in Sammy J and Randy in Ricketts Lane.

 “It’s an honour to finally be recognised as a serious actor,” Randy says. “All those years on the theatre restaurant circuit just paid for themselves.”

Ricketts Lane has garnered three AACTA nominations, with Randy’s co-star Nathan Lovejoy also up for Best Performance in a TV Comedy, and the series in the running for Best TV Comedy Series.

Adding to the series’ accomplishments, NBC Universal recently announced that Sammy J and Randy in Ricketts Lane will be available on its new subscription streaming service dedicated to comedy, Seeso, which launces in the U.S. in early 2016.
