Synopsis
The last survivors of a French Jewish ghetto in 1944 are being transported 'to the East' (Nach Osten). One of their number has stories of gassing and murder and attempts to escape. The others are incredulous - how can such a thing be? Will his escape imperil them? He bribes them with food to allow his escape. But fate has one more tragic twist for all of them.
