Most art television made in Australia concentrates on individual artists and their studio practice, and while there have been many fine examples of this approach in recent years, it has been decades since anyone attempted to describe the big picture of contemporary Australian art. THE ART LIFE series asks questions such as: how does contemporary art fit into Australian culture at large? How does it relate to the world? And how do traditional art forms like painting survive?
