Beach, The

The Beach was inspired by the World Press Photograph of the Year 2003 taken during the Iraq War of 2003. The photo captured a hooded Iraqi man, suspected of being an insurgent, comforting his 4-year-old son who would not be separated from him. They were held captive, surrounded by razor wire. Directed by a Muslim father of two young children, this film explores how he would have protected his child’s innocence in that situation. Some stories should never be forgotten.
