Synopsis
CHOOKS... THEIR LIVES AND THEIR LOVERS is an appreciative close-up on the chook-human relationship in contemporary Australia. This documentary contrasts the lives and lovers of these lively feathered cacklers from the feral colonies of Norfolk Island to the exhibition superstars of the Queensland poultry show circuit and beyond. It highlights the fascination, devotion and in some cases, outright obsession of those who are 'hooked on chooks', while also touching on the more serious issues concerning declining traditional breeds and the current treatment of the chook as 'product'.
