Dr Chris Bourke MLA, a descendant of the Gamillaroi Nation of NSW, lives in Canberra with his wife Julie, they have three adult children. Dr Bourke is the eldest of five children, his father was a schoolteacher in country Victoria and his mother who completed grade 8 returned to study as a mature age student to complete a teaching degree.
