Despite experiencing the unprecedented opportunities and social upheaval of working-class Australia in the mid-1970s, Emily finds herself forever in the shadow of her older, more ambitious sister, Cheryl. Suddenly grappling with a teenage pregnancy, Emily represents everything the Women's Liberation Movement and the post-Whitlam reforms are striving to rise above. When a tragic accident leaves Emily picking up the pieces, she is forced to redesign her own future, from the ground up.
