Synopsis

It is 1943 and Vladimir is growing up on an isolated farm somewhere on the Russian Steppes. He has been brought up on his mother's stories of all the dangers that lie in wait for boys who misbehave. He is trying, not very successfully, to overcome his fears, until, one day, something happens that will change the direction of his life. It is 1957 and Vladimir has finally reached his goal - he has trained as a cosmonaut and is circling the Earth. But unfortunately his capsule has malfunctioned and things don't look so good for him...
