Focal Point: On The Rocks

Sydney's historic Rocks and Millers Point area is the birthplace of European settlement in Australia. Today it is facing its strongest pressure for change. For generations there has been a tradition of families remaining in the area, but that tradition is ending as the district landlord, the Maritime Services Board, slowly relinquishes its holdings to other authorities, and families who have lived in the area for generations are forced to move to new housing. The result is confusion and concern.
