Glad

Glad Milroy has had her 15 minutes of fame. In 1987 her story was central to the success of Sally Morgan's book, 'My Place'. But like many other stories now being told of the stolen generation it has value as a story of the past, not the present. Far from closing the chapter in our history, the retelling of these stories has brought many unresolved issues to the surface for the storytellers. Her daughter's book gave Glad every reason to believe she had sisters she has never seen, but it didn't find them for her. Now 70, Glad journeys back to the country she was taken from. It's her last chance to fulfil the burning kinship obligations she feels for her family that doesn't know her, and may not even exist.
