Synopsis
The band Yothu Yindi, from the far north of Australia, draws on the song-cycle of its Arnhem Land ancestors to create an all-new mix of traditional Aboriginal music and rock'n'roll. INTO THE MAINSTREAM takes us across America with Yothu Yindi, Midnight Oil and Graffiti Man, on the 'Diesel and Dust To Big Mountain' concert tour. The program entertains and informs as it portrays the music and philosophy of the real crocodile people of Australia. We also share in the meeting of two Indigenous cultures - Australian Aborigines and North American Indians.
