Kustodians and Kustom

Gabriel Bani is a traditional kustodian of the Wagadagam clan of Mabuyag Island. He takes us on a journey into Mabuyag to explore the “Kustoms” of “Aylan Lore”, a system of governance and values that were the core of the Torres Strait cultural structure and survival. We look at how the growing influences of the western world impacted on the Torres Strait, and how communities maintain the cultural integrity and values of the Kustoms as Kustodians.
