Synopsis
LEAPING OFF THE EDGE is about an extraordinary woman with amazing skills. Andrea Onsley is the Head Trainer at Melbourne's Women's Circus. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, Andrea has found the methods and philosophy of this unique performing arts organisation have helped her overcome profound feelings of worthlessness and disconnection with her body. Set up in 1991, the Women's Circus trains up to 20 women annually, from various backgrounds, to develop physical and emotional confidence, through learning circus skills in a safe and supportive environment. The film observes Andrea and other circus members as they prepare for the annual performance season.
